The year 2020 allowed for many of us to step back and reflect on the state of the world and what part we play in it. In Minneapolis, where designer Laine Williams was living at the time, there was a horrific tragedy and display of police brutality on a member of the black community. During this time of sorrow and reflection there were many conversations surrounding racism and its presence in today’s climate. After months of reflection Laine began to evaluate the effects that her own race had on her as a child and through to a young adult. The concept below depicts one topic that Laine felt comfortable sharing with viewers and she found it to be one of the many universal obstacles BIPOC face.
